Dr.Sonika Kushwaha
President

Dr.Sonika Kushwaha is a Wildlife Biologist, designated as President of Indian Biodiversity Conservation Society, Jhansi since July 2015. She has been involved in research on biodiversity and its conservation for more than 12 years, a cause to which she is wholly dedicated in heart and soul. She completed her doctoral on vultures of Bundelkhand from University of Lucknow in 2014. Her main approach to wildlife management and conservation has been to include the local people to gain their cooperation and support, which will eventually, result in integrated conservation and development. Other activities include the rescue of injured and sick birds particularly during the breeding season. Besides the research work Dr.Sonika organizes awareness programmes based on the green Calendar prepared by IBCS. She has authored more than 90 publications in various National and International Journals. She likes to disseminate knowledge of flora and fauna by means of lectures, field trips, literature and expeditions and impart widespread environmental education and training through a vast network for teachers and students and communities. Looking at the moon with the twinkling stars on a clear night and a morning with sunshine and twittering birds is her definition of the perfect world.

Dr.Akhilesh Kumar
Secretary

Dr.Akhilesh Kumar is a young Wildlife Biologist and a dedicated conservationist. He did his Doctoral on Threats and conservation of House Sparrow (Passer domesticus) in and around Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh in 2018. At present he is associated with Indian Biodiversity Conservation Society as its Secretary. He adores birding and exploration of new habitats. He is passionate about photography and likes to spend time capturing all form of lives. He is also a teacher, holding a position in the Education Service, Uttar Pradesh where he continues his passion by disseminating knowledge of flora and fauna by means of lectures, field trips, awareness programmes, workshops, bird watching, nature walks and training to a vast network of teachers, students and local communities. He has authored more than 75 publications in various National and International Journals. For his unwavering commitment to outstanding contribution to biodiversity and its conservation he has received several awards.
